Getting Ready for Christmas

We are getting ready for Christmas this week. We're going to be away for about a week and a half and I doubt I'll be posting any blogs during that time. So, I thought I would go ahead and post one wishing everyone a happy holiday! Tomorrow we leave to see Chad's family for the holidays and then Saturday it's off to Huntsville to see mine until New Year's! We have so many fun things planned for our trip to Huntsville. We are going to take Gaines to ride a new carousel they have there in town, we are going to have a get together with my friends at my sister's new house, and the thing I'm most excited about is our trip to Nashville. We are taking Gaines to see the lights at the Opryland Hotel and to the Rainforest Cafe. I think he's going to love it! I hope everyone has as great of a holiday as we plan to! Merry Christmas!

Gaines Is Growing Up So Fast

We went to Jackson this weekend with Sam, Lindsey, and Jared. It was so fun! We don't get to do things like that often. Sam, Jared, and Chad went to watch George County play in the state championship game but Lindsey, Gaines, and I got to go eat at Olive Garden and shop at Target. Then we got to stay at the Hilton Friday night. We spent all day on Saturday finishing up our Christmas shopping. All that activity made it difficult to sit and hold a bottle for Gaines, so he took matters into his own hands and started feeding himself! He has used the handles on his sippy cup (when he's in the mood) but has never been that great at holding his bottle by himself. He sure has mastered it this weekend though! I can't believe how fast he's growing, it seems like everyday he learns something new. I've enjoyed my time off with him and watching him grow, but it's time for me to get back into the workforce. I start as an adult clinician at Gulf Coast Mental Health in Wiggins after the first of the year. It's going to be hard for me, I'll feel like I'm missing out on all of these new things he's learning! I've found a great daycare for him though so that's comforting. It's going to be a little more difficult to keep our blog updated so bear with me, but I will do my best to keep everyone posted about what's going on with us.

It's Been a While!

A lot has happened since my last post. We have been so busy with Thanksgiving and Chad's bowl game that I have not had a chance to post anything in a long time. As most of you know, Chad's team won the Heart of Texas Bowl in Copperas Cove Texas over the weekend. They beat Kilgore 62-28!! It was an amazing game! We are so proud of Chad and the Bulldogs and excited about the possibility of being considered National Champs. It was a looooong trip over to Copperas Cove. We were in the car 12 hours on Friday! Then on Saturday after the game, we drove back to Houston and stayed with Chad's aunt. On Sunday we were in the car about another seven or eight hours to go home! Gaines was a trooper though! He did good. Toby stayed with Chad's brother Sam and his family while we were gone. Our nephew Jared must have worn him out because he's been awfully sleepy since we got back! I did not take any pictures at the game because I forgot to take my camera in. I had a bad headache when we first got there and I was a little concerned about the windy and rainy conditions that preceded the game. Unfortunately through all of that it completely slipped my mind to get my camera. I do have this picture of Gaines and Toby recuperating together though!

Gaines' First Christmas Tree

Saturday night I had Chad help me put up our Christmas tree. A lot of people probably think that's weird because we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but we are going to be out of town most of this week, the first weekend in December, and the last week and a half of December. I just wanted us to be able to enjoy our tree at least a little! Plus, all this Christmas shopping I've been doing has really got me in the spirit. I guess Gaines is still young because Chad and I tried to get him excited about it, but he just whined most of the time we were putting it up! He does like to look at it when it's all lit up though. Last night we put him in this rocking chair my mom gave him that used to belong to me when I was little, and took his picture. He's too cute! We can't wait for his first Christmas with us!

Gaines is a Big Boy!

For those of you who were worried about it, Gaines has finally rolled over! He did it once on Tuesday night and then we were able to catch the second time on video. The night before his 6 month appointment. I was working with him feverishly so that I wouldn't have to tell the doctor that he was still not rolling over! I guess the hard work payed off! He's also drinking from a sippy like a big boy. I can't believe how fast he's growing. He's already half a year old! Yesterday at his 6th month check up he had to get his shots. He was so tough! He barely cried. All the other babies were crying FOREVER! He didn't even shed a tear when they pricked his finger. What a tough little Huff!!!

Bulldogs Are State Champs

It's been a couple of days since Chad's team won the state championship. Sorry that I haven't posted anything about it until now, I've been busy Christmas shopping and Gaines had his 6 month shots today. The Bulldogs won the championship by three points!!! It was intense to say the least. I thought they might lose at one point and I had to take a break from it but they ended up pulling through. I'm so proud of them! They finished the season the way they wanted to. Now there will be a bowl game in Texas on December 1st. We are praying for another win and then it will be a completely perfect season. Here are some pictures from the game for those of you who didn't get to be there. Wish everyone could've come!

Good luck to Chad and the Bulldogs!

I want to wish my husband good luck in the state championship game tomorrow. I know they are going to do well! All their hard work is sure to pay off. The other night we went the girls' basketball game because it was my friend Melanie's coaching debut (the Bulldogs won 78-34 by the way). Anyways, they were playing a team from New Orleans who had brought a photographer. When he spotted Chad with his mini-me across the gym, he took a picture and sent it to us. I wish they were both looking in the same direction but you get the drift. Anyways, good luck Chad from me and Gaines! You're going to "finish" tomorrow!

Gulf Coast Wins Again

Gulf Coast is playing for the state championship next weekend! They beat Northwest in the first play off game today 31-6. To make it even better, my sister has been here since Thursday! I have LOVED having her here! We've had so much fun. I hate to see her leave. The only thing that could have made the weekend better is if my Crimson Tide had beat LSU! They had a chance, and they blew it! Oh well. Gulf Coast is my #1 team and they're unstoppable right now. I hope to see everyone at the game next Saturday. Here are a couple of the pics from the game today. Gaines is already a ladies man! Should I be worried?!

Happy Halloween Everyone

Happy Halloween from the Huffs! Here are some cute pics that my sis-in-law Lindsey took of Gaines in Moss Point a couple of weeks ago. He's a very serious little fellow! Look at that serious little face of his! They're cute pics never the less, thanks Lindsey! I wish I had the pictures she took of her kids too, they were dressed up in their costumes. They were too cute! Jared was a pirate and Abbie was a leopard. Gaines is a little too young for the fall festival at church tonight so I guess we are just going to hang around the house. We won't even get trick-or-treaters because we live on campus at the community college. Oh well! I hope everyone else has a fun and safe Halloween though.

It's Official, We're Undefeated!

Gulf Coast won today! It was 53-17!! That means they are undefeated in the regular season and next week starts the play offs. It was homecoming today as well so Gaines' Nana came down from Huntsville for the game. We have loved having her this weekend! Gaines got to spend time with his Mimi and Paw Paw at the game as well. It was a good day, we like it when Gulf Coast blows their opponent out! I'm looking forward to my sister coming to town for the play offs now. Hopefully they can pull off another win against Northwest. They will probably be mad since we beat them in overtime not to long ago. I know the Bulldogs can do it though!

**Note** That's Terrence Cody with Gaines. He's a defensive lineman for Gulf Coast. I hope we see him play at Alabama one day!!

Fall is Here!

We had a bad rain storm all day on Monday. After it was over, we had some really cold weather move in. Chad is soooo excited about it but I'm not sure I am! What I am excited about is dressing Gaines up in his cozy winter outfits! Here is one of them that I never thought would fit this soon. It seems like he's gotten even bigger in the last few weeks. I am glad that it's not scorching hot anymore but I hope it warms up a little before Saturday because Gaines' little bald head will freeze at his daddy's homecoming game! He doesn't enjoy hats...he's already just like his dad!

And the winner of south state is....Gulf Coast!!!!

Well, I 'm bad because I have no pictures to show from this weeks game :(! I was doing all I could just to be there. It was hotter than heck and Gaines was crying and I was trying to hold an umbrella over his head to shade him while I fed him and saved seats...all by myself! Then it occurred to me that I left my camera in the car and I was not willing to make the long journey back to get it. Luckily, the vice president kindly let me and Gaines and my in-laws sit under a tent with her for some relief! We couldn't really see the game well from there, but it's ok because the Bulldogs pulled off another difficult win to be south state champs! They beat Jones 20-14 and it was there homecoming game! Now it's definately off to the play offs for Gulf Coast, but we hope they can get there still undefeated in the regular season. Next week will be a tough one against Southwest. They've beat us the last two years and it's our homecoming game! The Bulldogs can beat them though because they're on a roll!

I have to mention my other team too. Alabama beat Tenessee yesterday 41-17!!! I can't believe it! I wish I saw that game. Yesterday was the first day that I did not dress myself and Gaines up in Alabama gear and watch the game all season. Maybe I need to continue not to dress up or watch the games because it worked yesterday! Roll Tide!

Wish us luck!

It's the Gulf Coast vs Jones game today. It's the biggest game of the year so far, we're both undefeated and this game determines who wins south state. We need to win today! Another very important game today is Alabama vs. Tenessee. I'm a die hard Alabama fan, but they do kind of suck! Hopefully it will help that it's in Tuscaloosa! Good luck to all my teams!!!

It's Good To Be A Huff! Bulldogs are 7-0!

Well, Gulf Coast won again last night but only by the skin of their teeth! They beat Northwest 27-20 in overtime. It was definitely intense! A win is a win though no matter how you get it. I have to thank all the Huffs for coming out to the game last night. Everyone was there. Tommy and Ashley brought Alyssa and Sam and Lindsey brought Abbie and Jared. Chad's parents were there as always. They rarely ever miss a game and we appreciate the lengths they go to every week to be there. Especially since most games are on Thursdays. Having everyone there made such a suspenseful game more enjoyable! Now Chad and the Bulldogs have to prepare for Jones next week. It could turn out to be another nail biter because Jones is the only other undefeated team in our area. It should be a good game! I hope everyone can make it out to that one next Saturday, we'll need all the support we can get!

Crazy Toby

I had to share this picture because it's so funny! Last night Chad caught Toby sleeping with his feet up in the air. That dog was tired! He's been moping around the house and acting like he was depressed for a while now. Last night Chad took Gaines to his office to watch film so Toby and I got some much needed one on one time. We went and walked the track together. I guess eight laps is a lot for a six lb dog to handle!

Congratulations To Our Friend!

We just found out Monday evening that our good friend Brad Bunch proposed to his girlfriend Alison over the weekend. I have to say, I was just wondering the other day when he was going to do it! Chad and I have only met her once because she lives in Tulsa, but we think Brad got a good one! I hope you guys don't mind me sharing your business on our blog, but we are very happy for you at the Huff household! By the way Brad, you have good taste! It's a beautiful ring.

Bulldogs Win Again

Gulfcoast beat East Central 41-24 last night. It was definately not easy though! They might have been one of the toughest teams to beat this season! We are very happy about the big win at our house. Gaines and I got back from Huntsville just a few hours before the game. My mom brought us back so she got to go to the game. She left this morning after spending a week with us. We are sad, now we have to get things back to normal! She'll be back in three weeks though for homecoming. Hopefully Gulfcoast will still be undefeated by then! Well, we miss everyone we got to spend time with in Huntsville. We had fun!

How cute is our baby?!

Sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but Gaines and I have been very busy in Huntsville! We came up to celebrate my dad's 50th birthday. Today while I was having my hair done, my mom and my sister took Gaines to have his pictures made. My sister picked me up and told me that there were so many good ones, it was hard to choose! I was glad that I didn't have to choose because I am so indecisive. Anyways, if you look at this blog, chances are you're getting one because we have so many! He is so precious. The football outfit is his Halloween costume by the way.

Another Big Bulldog Win!

Last night Gulf Coast beat CoLin 37-3! Once again, we were not expecting a score like that. CoLin won south state last year and they are a very challenging team to beat. Gaines and I did not go to the game because his Nana and Grandpa came into town last night and they didn't arrive until about 6:00. Gaines' Mimi and Paw Paw went to the game though, so Chad did have some support at the game. We are more and more proud of Chad and the Bulldogs every week! Keep up the good work! Now if Bama can pull off a win tomorrow against Florida State it will be a great weekend!

Christmas in September

We got Gaines a new toy yesterday. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law suggested that I get him a walker because he wants to stand all the time. So yesterday I went and bought him an Exersaucer. His daddy saw it and said Christmas came early! It took him an hour to put it together but when it was finally ready, we put Gaines in it and he seemed to really like it! He was laughing and smiling and playing with all the toys. I've been putting him in it this morning and he's been crying though. He has to get accustomed to new toys when he gets them. Plus, he's kind of spoiled and only wants to be held! He's in my lap right now! Our other baby, Toby, is sick today and we all have to go to the vet. Poor Toby! He's going to hate it! We hope he feels better though.

Bed time for Gaines!

Friday night all the high school football games on the coast were cancelled because of a tropical storm that didn't even really ever happen. We were happy though because Chad got to stay home with us instead of recruiting. He got to give Gaines his bath and help him get ready for bed. We put him in these pajamas that are so stinkin' cute I had to take a picture and post it! Saturday night was quite disappoining as far as the Alabama game goes! We lost by three points in overtime. Oh well, this week Kellye and Brian will bring them some good luck when they go to Florida to see them play Florida State!

Gulf Coast pulled off another spectacular win last night! They beat Hinds Community College 61-0! Gaines and I are very proud of Chad's victory! We went to the game, we felt like it would be ok to leave in the fourth quarter since we were two and half hours away though. The next game we are anxiously awaiting is Alabama and Georgia at 6:45 on Saturday night. Unfortunately we will be watching from home while my parents are enjoying it live! I have to give them a hard time because they are not taking us, but I hope they have fun. Well, Gaines was just playing on his back and he almost rolled completely over! It won't be long! He's growing up so fast!

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

Well, my good friend Kellye has finally talked me into getting a blog! So here goes the first post! There's not much new going on in the Huff household. Gaines just started eating baby food about a week ago. It's soooo messy but he loves it! We are in the midst of what is turning out to be a good football season. Chad's team just beat the number one ranked junior college team in the nation, the Pearl River Wildcats. We are very excited about that win! He has Hinds Community College this week and they're pretty good too. They are just taking it one game at a time, but hopefully we'll be going to some play off games this year! We are also very excited at our house about the Alabama and Mississippi State victories from this past weekend! The only reason we are happy about the Mississippi State win is because it was over Auburn. We are 100% fans of the Crimson Tide! Roll Tide! I would post some pictures, but I don't know how to do it yet and Gaines has just woken up from a nap. I'll figure this thing out soon enough though!
